About Aref Pariz:
As a Physicist, I possess a keen tendency for the exploration of diverse physical phenomena. Consequently, my curiosity led me to develop a profound interest in Neuroscience and the intricate workings of the human brain. To pursue this fascination, I diligently pursued a Ph.D. in physics, specializing in the examination of communication dynamics within the brain.
My academic journey has afforded me a comprehensive understanding of brain functions, instilling in me an unwavering dedication to furthering our comprehension of communication dynamics and information transfer mechanisms within the brain. Additionally, I am motivated by the prospect of investigating how these communication pathways and information flows can be influenced through the application of brain stimulation methodologies.
Fundamentally, my overarching objective within the field of brain sciences is to unravel the enigmatic nature of the brain and its intricate higher-order functions.
Experience
Following my doctoral studies, I gained invaluable research experience by spending a year as a researcher in Prof. Mirasso's lab at IFISC. During this time, my focus centered on investigating the impact of communication delays on dynamics within various systems.
Subsequently, I secured funding from the Iranian Elite Federation, which facilitated my transition to Prof. Abodollahi's lab in the chemistry department of IASBS as a postdoctoral fellow. In this role, I delved into the realm of brain rhythms, employing pertinent tools within the field of chemometrics to advance our understanding of these intricate phenomena.
Seeking to broaden my research horizons, I then joined the University of Ottawa as a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Lefebvre's Lab. My current endeavors revolve around the exploration of how brain stimulation techniques influence neuronal circuits, aiming to uncover insights into their effects on brain functionality.
Throughout these diverse research experiences, I have nurtured a multidisciplinary perspective and acquired a range of skills that contribute to my comprehensive understanding of the intricate workings of the brain.
Education
After completing my undergraduate studies in Physics at the University of Shahid Bahonar Kerman, Iran, I decided to further deepen my knowledge in the field. Consequently, I enrolled in the master's degree program at the University of Zanjan, specializing in quantum optics. This academic pursuit allowed me to delve into the intricacies of this fascinating area of study and expand my understanding of quantum phenomena.
Motivated by a strong desire to contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge, I subsequently joined the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) in Zanjan, Iran, to pursue a doctoral program in Physics. This prestigious institution provided me with a stimulating research environment and access to valuable resources, enabling me to undertake in-depth investigations in neuroscience.
