About Carter Everett:
I am in my last year of chemical engineering at Laurentian University and actively searching for employment opportunities when I graduate in May. My goal is to become a valuable member of a team and gain knowledge while working towards my P.Eng license as an EIT. I have gained valuable experience in the field of mineral processing through a co-op placement at Lakeshore Gold’s Bell Creek mill. My time in university has taught me how to learn and meet deadlines effectively. Various part time jobs have taught me valuable life skills such as communication, working as a team, and problem solving to name a few.
Experience
I have worked various part-time jobs at metro and Amazon, where I gained fundamental skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and communication. My most relevant experience was a 16-month co-op position that I completed at Lakeshore Gold's Bell Creek mine in Timmins, Ontario. My position was the metallurgical co-op student, where I worked under the senior and mill metallurgist to assist in day-to-day operations, work on projects, and run the effluent treatment plant, to name a few of my duties. I gained practical experience working with refiners, circuit operators, assayers, and the environmental department and learning tasks from each department. I was responsible for completing month-end reagent inventory counts and month-end circuit sampling with precision. I often worked with other departments, learning the importance of communication between departments and how good communication could make or break daily operations. I look forward to showing the skills I mentioned and the many other skills and experiences I gained in a graduate engineering position.
Education
I am currently completing my final semester of a chemical engineering degree at Laurentian University. Throughout my time at Laurentian University, I learned how to study and understand vast amounts of information, while also learning how to effectively manage my time and meet various deadlines. I took core engineering courses along with engineering electives in extractive metallurgy and environmental sustainability to learn how to process raw materials and understand the environmental consequences and best methods to keep mining and other industries sustainable. I completed a 16-month co-op placement which gave me practical experience and a chance to apply my learning to industry projects and tasks.
