Chelsea Coombes
Human Resources
About Chelsea Coombes:
I am a recent graduate with a Master's Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, where my thesis research focused on the dynamics between leadership, employee well-being and job performance. As a former varsity wrestler, I have always been interested in health, well-being, and performance. I have since transferred these interests to applied settings in the workplace. Through my experience working in the Intergroup Relations and Social Justice lab at SFU as well as the Leadership Development team at PHSA, I have gained a passion for leadership, group dynamics, and social justice. My career goal is to help people lead healthy and fulfilling lives at work.
Experience
My most recent professional experience has been working with the Leadership Development team at PHSA where I designed and facilitated workshops on conflict management. I have been working there for 6 months. Before this, I spent two years managing a psychology clinic, Dr. Arnold and Associates, where I was responsible for all HR tasks such as recruitment, selection, policies and procedures, and performance management. I have also had a 6-month internship with an HR company, Meda HR, that created and delivered all HR documents for startup tech companies. More recently, I have volunteered with Starlight Children's Foundation, where I designed and delivered a two-week virtual summer camp for the children at BCCH. Additionally, I have been assisting in the facilitation of workshops with a variety of leadership development teams through Unbridling Your Brilliance, as well as facilitating a workshop with the Municipal Services at UBC with Small Pause Coaching and Consulting.
Education
I complete a Bachelor of Arts, Major Psychology, Minor Kinesiology, at Simon Fraser University, where I graduated with distinction. During my time at SFU, I competed on the varsity wrestling team and completed a semester abroad at Griffith University in Australia.
I completed my Masters of Arts in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Adler University.
