Christel Marie Quiambao

I’m Christel, an ISTQB certified software tester. I help companies big and small test their software products to ensure quality and functionality. 

Over the course of my career, I’ve worked for companies in the education and financial services industries including Brainscape, ABLSoft, Mcquarrie Group and NorthgateArinso Philippines, Inc. helping them design and execute test plans for internal and consumer-facing software platforms. 

Most recently, I’m proud to have championed the design and launch of Brainscape’s new software quality assurance program. 

Other tidbits about me: 

•I initially began my career as a developer but discovered that I enjoyed breaking software more than I enjoyed building it. 

•I love tinkering with products, finding loopholes, and just generally making sure the product I’m shipping is as error-free as possible. 

•I find fulfillment in seeing the software I supported being used by businesses and consumers

I’m always working hard to keep my skillset up-to-date and am currently focused on learning and applying automated testing techniques. 

Off the job, I love making acrylic paintings, playing volleyball, and scouring second-hand stores for old English literature.

Senior Software Quality Assurance Tester • Brainscape                                                                                        September 2017 to Present

Oversees the development and implementation of manual test plans supporting a web and mobile educational platform used by individual and commercial customers in the education, healthcare, and legal spaces.

• Creates and integrates test plans, cases, and scripts into Agile sprint cycles, balancing the needs business use cases and project owners, managers, and development teams.
• Provides strategic recommendations to senior leaders for improving testing practices, such as automated testing and deployment of test management tools. 
• Manages 2 international testers through the planning, execution, and documentation of manual testing including black-box, functional, system, smoke, and regression, identifying over 1000 bugs over a 5-year period.
• Elevated the company’s reputation and raised Google Play & Apple AppStore reviews by ~3 stars by planning and launching the company’s first ever quality assurance program. 
• Achieved 95% bug free status in releases and played a key role in increasing revenue by over 340% and growing the user base by nearly 50% over a 5-year period.
