Daniela Newnham

Hello! My name is Daniela Newnham, and I’m currently in my final year of the Bachelor of Commerce program at MacEwan University, majoring in Human Resource Management with a minor in Legal Studies in Business.

I’m passionate about the field of HR and have had the privilege of gaining hands-on experience through internships with PCL Construction and the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. These opportunities have deepened my understanding of HR practices in both corporate and governmental settings.

Currently, I work part-time with the Legislative Assembly of Alberta while continuing my studies, with the goal of graduating in Spring 2026.

While in high school, I gained valuable work experience in both the retail and hospitality industries. Upon entering university, I enrolled in MacEwan University's Co-operative Education program, which enabled me to pursue student employment opportunities that would be formally recognized and credited toward my degree.

Through this program, I was fortunate to secure an 8-month work term with the Legislative Assembly of Alberta as an HR Co-op Student. After completing the term, I was offered the opportunity to continue working part-time while resuming my studies. To fulfill the final requirement of the co-op program, I needed to complete an additional work term with a different organization. This led me to a summer position with PCL Construction as an HR Summer Student.

Following the completion of that work term, I returned to my final year of studies and was invited to rejoin the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in a part-time capacity. I currently hold the role of HR Assistant, where I continue to build on my experience and passion for human resources.

I am currently completing my Bachelor of Commerce degree at MacEwan University, with a major in Human Resource Management and a minor in Legal Studies in Business. As part of my academic journey, I enrolled in the Co-operative Education program, which has allowed me to gain credited, hands-on HR experience with both the Legislative Assembly of Alberta and PCL Construction. I am on track to graduate in Spring 2026.
