I am writing to apply for the position that was listed on the website. My research and experience make me an ideal candidate. I am currently a fourth-year student graduating in April, studying forensic science and specializing in chemistry.
I have had a great deal of research experience in chemistry, biology, and laboratory practices, both in the lab and in the accredited OTU’s forensic science program. My experience is specialized currently in chemistry through courses like organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and forensic chemistry. I have experience in a crime scene environment throughout my program through courses such as crime scene science, criminalistics, and Interdisciplinary topics in forensic science.
I have research experience in laboratories working with Trevani (chemistry and material science lab) and Stotesbury laboratory (forensic chemistry and material science lab). I am certain my skills make up for the components of this position, and I know my previous experience makes me a prime candidate for this.
I have previous experience in the science council as a Director of Academic Affairs and was also in a business club called AIESEC, as a Vice President for operations in the club. These extracurriculars helped me gain experience in planning, organizing, managing, and collaborating. They helped to develop my practical skills and solve challenges.
I know that I would be an asset to this job and will bring forward a positive attitude to overcome any difficult situation at hand. This position would provide me with the ideal opportunity to assist in my career and expand my skills to fulfill my lifelong goals.

SCIENTIFIC SKILLS
- Pipetting minute amounts of solvent using an Eppendorf pipette, volumetric pipette, serological pipette, and Pasteur pipette
- Rheometer (analyzing bovine blood), SEMEDX, Raman Microscope, Profilometry
- Evidence collection of fingerprints, footwear impressions, DNA, and bodily fluids as well as preparation, and documentation practiced in Forensic Crime Scene courses.
- Preparing various samples for analysis including DNA samples, blood artifacts, pig tissue samples, silica nanoparticle films
- Read and understand mass spectra, gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, and mass chromatography. Analyzing profilometry and rheology data.
- Skilled in Forensic Chemistry and Biology, worked with Crime Scene photography using different light sources, fingerprinting, DNA sequencing, and electrophoresis.
