Diepreye Charles-Daniel

My name is Diepreye Charles-Daniel. I am a 17-year-old Nigerian. I am a first-year international student attending the University of Alberta and plan to major in Software Engineering. I have experience in the following languages: C++, Python, HTML, CSS and JavaScript with which I have completed projects published on my GitHub. I use Visual Studio Code and GitHub as my main code editor and version control software respectively. I also enjoy playing games, hanging out, making new friends, learning, competitive programming and solving problems.

Before starting my first year of university, I applied to work in two companies in Nigeria. I worked as a Front-End Developer Intern at Harveyteck Web Resources and as an I.T. Manager Intern at Ogeyi Place Hotels, Port Harcourt. 

During my work period at Harveyteck Web Resources, I worked directly under the head Full-Stack Developer of the company. I was given tasks involving HTML, CSS and JavaScript to complete within a given time period. I also became familiar with using Git and GitHub for version control and Netlify for hosting my website projects. I completed each of my tasks on time efficiently.

During my work period at Ogeyi Place Hotels, Port Harcourt, I worked under the assistant I.T. manager of the establishment. I maintained their mailing server systems and database, giving weekly reports on the performance of the systems and any changes made. I also handled some hardware and software problems lodgers encountered in their rooms like cable connections, WLAN connections, etc.

I successfully completed a free course on HTML and CSS found on Great Academy. The course went over the fundamentals of the two programming languages, and recent developments in the languages. It ended with some projects to be completed before certification.

I am currently in my first year of engineering at the University of Alberta. In my first semester, I took a course on Programming with Python which I completed with an 'A'. I plan on taking more online courses and university courses related to my field.
