About Echo McLeod-Shabogesic:

Aanii!

My name is Echo McLeod-Shabogesic and I am an Anishinaabe-kwe (Ojibway woman) from Nipissing First Nation. I currently hold a B.A. Honours and Specialization degree in Indigenous studies with a research focus in Law and Justice. I am currently in the final stages of writing my thesis in the Masters of Indigenous Relations program at Laurentian University, in Sudbury Ontario. The thesis is grounded in Traditional Indigenous systems of law and is currently titled: Kwewag Mekwaataagsajig (The Women Who Remind Us of the Right Thing to Do): A Look at How Women contributed to Anishinaabe Law.

I am a passionate, innovative, and highly motivated individual. I have experience working with people and community from all walks of life. From the beginning of my professional career, I have and continue to be drawn and dedicated to working with Indigenous communities. I currently work in Alternative Dispute Resolution and know firsthand the importance of having someone advocate on behalf of those who struggle finding solutions.
