Emilie Schieve

Hello! I am currently a junior at Alberta University of the Arts in Calgary, studying Character Design, Animation, and Illustration. I am looking for summer employment or an internship with an animation or game development studio to gain industry experience and improve my skillset! My career aspiration is to work in a studio setting, making cool things alongside creative people who share my passion for storytelling and drive to create, and who will challenge me to improve and learn. 

Skills: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premier, Audition), Toon Boom Harmony, Storyboarder Pro, Blender modelling.

Areas of interest: Visual development and concept art for animation, film, and games, including character design, environment design and world building. Storyboarding and visual storytelling. Illustration.

I am currently an art school student looking to gain animation industry experience and continue learning.

Previous Employment Experience:

Children’s Book Illustration

• Worked with a children’s wellness worker and family therapist from my hometown.
• Provided illustrations for three stories she had written to help children deal with experiences such as trauma, anxiety, and neglect. 
• Used self publishing services to print copies for her professional use.

Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site- Visitor Services and Campground Attendant, Summer 2022

• Provided information to campers and tourists and abided by national standards for quality visitor experience.
• Received safety training, including first aid certification.

Pine Hills Golf Course, Rocky Mountain House- Maintenance Department, 2021

• General maintenance of course facilities.
• Learned to operate heavy machinery (skid-steer, ATVs, trailer vehicles, tractors, course grooming vehicles)

Tim Horton’s - Team Member, 2020

• Prepared food and beverages, operated point of sales at store front and drive thru, kept the workplace food safe, performed opening and closing duties.
• Developed strong customer service skills, learned to work quickly and efficiently in stressful situations, deal effectively with mistakes, and operate as a team with my coworkers.

Rocky Mountain House Museum- Summer Student and Day Camp Leader, 2019

• Assisted with research, cataloguing artefacts, and applications for funding.
• Organised and led a summer day camp for ages 5-12. This involved coming up with crafts and activities, as well as daily itineraries.

Bachelor of Design in Illustration at Alberta University of the Arts, minor in Animation.
