Fenwa Abifarin

Hello! My name is Joel Abifarin, and I'm a 16-year-old student currently enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program at Old Scona Academic in Edmonton, AB. I have a strong academic background, particularly in mathematics, as I am proficient in high school Math and currently enrolled in Math 30-1. My dedication to academics is reflected in the awards I've received, including Honours with Distinction in Grade 9 and Honours in Grade 10.

In addition to my academic pursuits, I have developed strong technological skills, with proficiency in several programming languages such as HTML, CSS, Python, JavaScript, and Java. 

Beyond my academic and volunteer commitments, I enjoy engaging in hobbies such as playing basketball and furthering my knowledge in computer science and cybersecurity. Volunteering remains a significant part of my life, as I find great satisfaction in giving back to my community and making a positive impact.

I have accumulated valuable volunteer experience that has allowed me to develop a strong set of skills. At Edmonton's Food Bank, I assisted with food distribution and organization and contributed to the planning and execution of volunteer gatherings. My role involved ensuring smooth operations and providing support to clients in a respectful and compassionate manner. Additionally, I have volunteered at Old Scona Academic, where I have supported clients, collaborated with fellow volunteers and staff, and helped ensure the success of various events. Through these experiences, I have honed my communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.

I am currently enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program at Old Scona Academic, one of the top schools in Edmonton, AB. This rigorous program has enhanced my academic skills, particularly in mathematics. My dedication to academic excellence is demonstrated by achieving Honours with Distinction in Grade 9 and Honours in Grade 10. Additionally, my education has provided a strong foundation in various subjects, preparing me well for future academic and professional endeavors.
