Fernando Zingler

I carry more than 15 years of experience in the domain of urban freight transportation, supported by a solid basis in data analysis, modelling, and simulation. I am currently pursuing doctoral studies in Industrial Engineering at Concordia University, focusing on enhancing my knowledge of last-mile delivery operations through the development and implementation of novel modelling and simulation methodologies. My research employs a multifaceted array of methodologies, encompassing statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), optimization techniques, and extensive data analysis, that provide significant insights that enable informed decision-making in the urban freight sector. My interests are promoting the integration of urban freight transportation planning with other modes, and developing sustainable initiatives to optimize last-mile deliveries in large metropolitan areas, to construct better cities and improve the quality of life of its residents.

My educational background includes a PhD in Industrial Engineering (2021-ongoing) from Concordia University, specializing in transportation and logistics and utilizing GIS and Python; an M.Eng. in Transportation Planning and Engineering (2014-2016) from NYU's Polytechnic School of Engineering, further refining my GIS and Python skills; an MBA in Project Management (2011-2013) from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, focusing on PMBOK, scope management, and innovation; and a degree in Chemical Engineering (2006-2010) from Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, specializing in Food Engineering, Production, Planning and Control and effluent/wastewater treatment.
