Health care is a machine made up of multiple working parts. These parts are represented by a network of altruistic interprofessional members who contribute to the overall cohesion that manifests high-quality patient care.

I am proud to be a part of this team through my own contribution as a Registered Nurse at Southlake Regional Health Centre on the Cardiology and Medicine Unit.

I am a highly motivated individual who is constantly developing my knowledge and skills within my scope of practice. My clinical practice is built on the foundation of empirically-based information to promote the most accurate and up to date model of care for patients. My contribution to the facilitation of high-quality patient care is materialized through patient advocacy, education, health promotion, and tracking of patient status.

Permanent Full-Time Registered Nurse - Southlake Regional Health Centre (Cardiology and Medicine) 

July 2022 - Present 

Currently working at Southlake Regional Health Centre’s Cardiology and Medicine Unit contributing to an overall enhancement of knowledge regarding the cardiovascular system, its varying pathologies allowing the provision of safe and competent care as outlined by the Cardiology and Medicine standard of care 

Establishing a concrete understanding of Southlake’s policies and procedures necessary for the application of care to the cardiac specific patient population  

Documenting using electronic health systems while adhering to the documentation policy of the organization and the standard of the CNO  

Advancing critical thinking skills to recognize acute patient status changes and intervening accordingly such as managing chest pain and electrolyte imbalances with unit specific protocols 

Developing competency with physical assessments, interpreting cardiac rhythms and 12 lead ECGs, medication administration (including intermittent and continuous intravenous infusions), assessing wounds and changing dressings 

Nurse Extern, Southlake Regional Health Centre (Cardiology and Medicine) 

February 2021 – June 2022 

Provided high quality patient care within the scope of an unregulated health care provider role including assisting patients with hygiene, nutritional, mobility and psychosocial needs 

Worked alongside the nurses, nurse practitioners, and physicians on the floor facilitating patient care needs as determined by the individual patients care plan 

Exhibited leadership through orientating newly hired clinical externs to the Cardiology and Medicine unit regarding the layout, supplies, patient room organization, and any other inquiries they may have 

Enhanced educational experiences and nursing knowledge through learning opportunities such as viewing live angiograms, echocardiograms, gastroscopies, and role observation experiences including shadowing a cardiac nurse practitioner  

Attended multiple extern education series including wound care, delirium, palliative care, self-care and resuscitation
