Hazel Ycasiano

As a recent graduate of George Brown College's Fashion Management program, I am eager to explore new opportunities in the fashion industry. With over 12 years of experience as a fashion designer, I have always been passionate about creating beautiful dresses and bringing my clients' dreams to life.

My passion for fashion led me to participate in a reality show for fashion designers in 2012, which sparked my curiosity in TV production. I transitioned to a wardrobe stylist role and worked on several TV shows, all while teaching fashion courses at the largest fashion school in the Philippines.

As much as I enjoyed teaching, I decided to pursue a diploma in Fashion Management to better understand the business side of the industry. This decision led me to compete in a case study competition by the Fashion Scholarship Fund, where I won a scholarship for a merchandising case study. Additionally, I was awarded a Neiman Marcus Group x FSF scholarship for my work in ethical and sustainable fashion. Attending the FSF Gala in New York, where influential figures such as Anna Wintour and Tommy Hilfiger were present, was an extraordinary experience. Additionally, I had the privilege of visiting esteemed organizations like Conde Nast, Nordstrom, and Fashionphile, where I participated in panel discussions.

My hard work and dedication to my studies earned me the Fashion Management Achievement Award for having the highest marks in the program, as well as the Innovative Leadership Award for using visionary thinking to address real-world problems and support my community.

Now, as I embark on a new chapter in my fashion journey, I am excited to bring my skills and experience to a new team and continue making an impact in the industry.

• Worked with Fashion Designer, Kate Austin, on product development for future collections, resulting in a faster and more productive product development process
• Developed technical flats and specs in Adobe Illustrator, which resulted in improved communication with Sample Makers in India
• Assisted in onset styling in photoshoots, which contributed to more efficient and creative shoots for marketing materials
• Supported day-to-day processes such as block printing and screen-printing packaging and marketing materials

Owner and Fashion Designer, Hazel Cargado Bridal                                            Oct 2009 – Jun 2022

• Developed an efficient production system that allows for very minimal fittings while still offering the greatest fit, allowing service to international and busy clients
• Coordinated with clients and identified the design aesthetics that would suit budget, season, motif, and wedding venue, which resulted in higher client appreciation
• Produced pieces that have been featured multiple times in Wedding Essential Magazine Philippines, significantly increasing brand awareness

• Developed a more efficient instructional method for the basic patternmaking course, which improved student learning and increased enrolment in advanced courses
• Created practical assessments that encouraged students to apply analytical skills, resulting in a greater understanding of pattern and construction techniques
• Successfully conducted an online learning format that helped ensure students learned just as much as they would in a physical classroom setting

Head Fashion Designer and Product Developer, La Vida Moda                            Jul 2016 – Jul 2017

• Led the design and development of the ladies' and children's wear collections, resulting in innovative and commercially successful designs that resonated with our target audience
• Collaborated with a team of skilled professionals to draft patterns and meticulously select fabrics for the collection, ensuring high-quality materials were used to bring the designs to life
• Provided expert supervision throughout the production process, overseeing sample garments and closely examining garment construction to maintain excellent standards of craftsmanship and fit

Wardrobe Stylist, ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation                                            Jul 2012 – Jul 2013

• Created and curated outfits for television show characters by carefully selecting, purchasing, altering, and styling clothing, resulting in accurate representation of characters on screen
• Collaborated closely with Directors, Producers, and other production departments to ensure the overall visual aesthetic and continuity of the show
• Oversaw and supervised a team of wardrobe staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure seamless coordination and execution of wardrobe-related tasks
