I am a new graduate from the C.Y.C program at Sheridan. While at Sheridan I had the opportunity to take part in field placement within the educational setting and . My recent role is a classroom assistant where I handled mostly behavioral.  I have worked with children and youths aged 6-18. now That I have my diploma I have created a summer program for children youth and families called relink-retreat child and youth families service. this program designed to help at-risk childre/youths reconnect with positive influences, opportunities, and support systems, providing a safe and supportive environment where childre/youths can explore their strengths, interests, and goals while receiving guidance, mentorship, and resources to overcome challenges they may be facing.

The retreat may focus on empowering youths to develop life skills, set and pursue meaningful goals, and build resilience. It may also involve activities aimed at promoting self-reflection, personal growth, and positive decision-making.

Experience

As a child and youth worker I Observed & documented students behaviors, implement strategies and evaluate outcomes of interventions
Supervised children 6-12 through various activities indoor/outdoor
Provided lunchroom supervision for students k-5, Participated in creative projects, Participated in team meetings,  Provide direct support, emotion regulation and behavioural guidance within the students life space (classroom setting, recess).I Created presentations & activities to help build awareness and social skills around personal space, Supported students 1 on 1 within a classroom, with homework, and social skills building. As a child and youth worker in a residential setting I Prepared meals according to the Canadian Food Guide, Lift physical effort light to medium 20kg (44lbs) - bending, stooping, caring, pulling, pushing, Assist clients with prescribed medication (witnessing clients take their
medication and documenting where applicable, Completed daily logs, incident, medication reports along with keeping up with household duties. I
Provided appropriate resources depending on the clients needs, Engaged in a variety of service strategies to help meet the clients
needs ( Facilitating, co-facilitating)
Counselling; assist clients with development of their goals and evaluate
progress, Assist staff with behavioural management; maintaining routines within the residence, and Attend clients scheduled appointments.
