Jayla Yez

I am a Business Student at MacEwan and a Aquatic Instructor and Trainer with extensive background in leadership, teamwork and communication. I strive to be a lifelong learner who will never stop evolving into the professional world and to continue sharing my passion for water saftey with others. My education and experience has taught me the importance of hard work, dedication, and perseverance while encouraging me to keep moving forward. As a lifelong learner, I always make the best of every opportunity presented to me by the people around me. A personal goal is to build sustainable relationships through meaningful interactions with all who come to see me and to provide a positive contribution towards those around.

Administrative Assistant:

Provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of office. Carries out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning etc. Makes travel arrangements for senior staff such as booking flights, cars, and hotel or restaurant reservations. Exhibits polite and professional communication via phone and e-mail. Supports team by performing tasks related to organization and strong communication. Develops administrative staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities. Provides information by answering questions and requests. Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Aquatic Instructor:

As an Aquatic Instructor, I taught swimming lessons to infants, children, youth, and adults using the Red Cross Swim curriculum. I prepared long and short term lesson plans, filled out assessment sheets, and progress cards as required, and maintained a safe and creative environment for participants and parents alike both in and around the pool. I have also mentored newly-hired instructors on swim class management, teaching strategies, and conflict management.
In 2021 I started teaching advanced courses such as Bronze Cross and Water Safety Instructor to participants. I prepared long and short term lesson plans, filled out assessment sheets and certified participants in CPR & AED, Bronze Cross and as Water Safety Instructors. I preformed Skills and Stokes evaluations to ensure students were at the correct level to join advanced courses

As a student at Macewan, I am taking a major in Management and minor in International Business. The Management major focuses on the management of organizations. This area of study provides a solid foundation in the fundamentals of business and specialization in key aspects of leadership, including team building, conflict resolution, consulting, change management and organizational development. The world is getting smaller every day. With a International Business minor, I am developing the skills and knowledge needed to meet the demands of today's global market.
