I currently work as a Protein Research Associate at Exosome Diagnostics, developing and refining immunoassays for liquid biopsy.
Experience
I currently work as a Protein Research Associate at Exosome Diagnostics. My duties include the following:
- Develop and test immunoassay processes for liquid biopsy with extracellular vesicles using protein-based isolation methods.
- Perform protein-based assays, protein detection methods, nucleic acid extractions, and nucleic acid detection.
- Write and make improvements upon standard operating procedures.
- Support biomarker discovery.
- Design and carry out custom experimentation.
My previous employer was at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where I was hired as an Accessioning Technician. I was later promoted to working in Reagent Preparation, where I prepared reagents for qPCR for COVID-19 Testing. I was later promoted as a Process Development Technician, during which I performed RNA extraction using an automated workflow. My duties included the following:
- Handle and process human specimens and reagents safely for q-PCR on the COVID-19 Clinical Diagnostic Team on the Genomics Platform at The Broad Institute.
- Handle viral material (SARS-CoV-2) and hazardous waste safely.
- Operate and maintain automated vial decapper, automated vial filling machine, and automated liquid handler (Hamilton Biostar).
- Utilize laboratory information management system to record data.
- Perform work in BL2 / BL3 laboratory spaces and follow required safety measures.
- Monitor lab operations to assess need for personnel in every area of the lab.
- Troubleshoot issues, write support tickets, and communicate with automation when needed.
Perform the duties of an accessioning technician and reagent preparation when needed.
- Follow and amend Genomic Platform SOPs.

Education
I received a Bachelor's degree from Wheaton College MA, during which I majored in neuroscience with minors in public health and Asian studies. I followed the pre-medical track to gain a thorough understanding of biology and chemistry to aid me in future lab work.
