About Kareen Mallon:

Kareen Mallon is a rising force in the world of LGBTQ+ artistry, based in the vibrant city of Toronto. With a multi-talented skillset as a content creator, cinematographer, photographer, and director, she is a true artist who brings a unique and diverse perspective to every project she undertakes. Kareen's passion for storytelling led her to graduate from Sheridan's Applied Photography program with honours in 2010, and since then, she has worked on a variety of exciting projects that have showcased her exceptional talent.

 

As a Director of Photography, Kareen has been instrumental in bringing a number of powerful short films to life, including the critically acclaimed Asking Price and The Commands, which featured the talented Actor and Writer Ryan Ali of the film The Humming Bird Project. Her exceptional skill as a cinematographer and editor has also been evident in the digital version of Thank U Ex, produced by Daisy Productions, and the fashion short Elements, which recently wowed audiences at the prestigious Venice Fashion Film Festival.

 

Kareen's star continues to rise, as she takes on exciting new challenges as a director. In 2020, she had the opportunity to direct the hit Netflix show My Perfect Landing, and also created the mesmerizing music video Sixth Sense by Kristen Renee. More recently, Kareen has directed and produced the W.T.D music video by Sean Reyes and Room 401, a short currently in post-production with Alex Chiu Productions. Her exceptional work has earned her critical acclaim, including the Best New Rock Indie Video award in Los Angeles in 2013 for her direction and production of the Sean Reyes music video Just Another.

 

Kareen's commitment to Queer representation in media and film is a driving force behind her work. She has dedicated her talents to amplifying the voices and experiences of the LGBTQ+ community, including her work as DOP for the TV series Documentary She's the Man, which was showcased on Out Spoken TV. Through her experiences in the community, Kareen is currently writing her first feature film, Life as a Pair, which promises to be a deeply moving exploration of the struggles faced by LGBTQ+ youth as they navigate the complex ideals of society and the hidden desires of their own. With her exceptional talent, unwavering commitment to Queer representation, and unparalleled artistic vision, Kareen Mallon is a rising star to watch in the world of contemporary art.

 

Experience

Successfully served as Director of Photography for three projects in the past year, resulting in all three projects winning awards at various film festivals. Collaborated with the production team to bring the director's vision to life through the use of lighting, framing, and camera techniques, contributing to the overall success of the projects.
