Professional Experience From a work experience or professional experience point of view, human resources management has been my primary career for over eight years. In 2014, I started my human resources career in the educational industry in Colombo, Sri Lanka. I was employed by MDIS and was assigned as Junior Executive HR Administration for a period of 8 months, where I handled full cycle recruitment, payroll and benefits, employee transfers and designation changes, HRIS data entry, induction, and all other HR functions for over 100 employees which included lecturers and as well as supervisor. During the same year, I received an opportunity to do my bachelor’s in human resources. And I joined an apparel manufacturing company as an intern of human resources in order to full fill my industrial experience which I needed to complete my degree. I spearheaded the department and led many HR projects that resulted in efficiency gains and supported the innovative culture the company was planning to build. After 9 months, I joined an ecommerce technology called Kapruka Holdings Pvt Limited as an Executive and grown within the organization for the post of Assistant Manager Human Resources, I was instrumental in setting up its Human Resources department, drafting HR policies and streamlining all HR and administration functions by deploying HR strategy and setting up HR teams. During the tenure of this role over the span of 2 years, I worked closely with the local communities, provincial offices and employment agencies in matters pertaining to employee benefits, recruitment, payroll and compensation, local labour legislation, etc. In 2021, I joined a digital media marketing firm called Digibrush Productions Pvt Limited as a Manager People Operations. I was employed at this organization until September 2022 and resigned when I migrated to Canada during the same month. Apart from the above-mentioned professional experience, I also possess one year of experience working for HSBC (Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation) as a financial crime compliance / anti-money laundering investigator (Global Career Band 8). I took on this role in 2013, and I must say I still utilize some of the work ethics, code of conduct and good organizational cultural traits I learned from working at this bank, to which I am forever grateful. Educational Credentials (Professional, Academic and Vocational) As a result of encountering many legal bodies such as labour tribunals and other legal branches at a professional level, I realized the potential synergies that can be unlocked by combining an HR and business career with proper legal education. As far as qualifications are concerned, I possess Graduate Diploma in Business Management, a Bachelor of Science honours Degree in Human Resource Management and Leadership from Northumbria University UK. I am currently registered member of National Payroll Association of Canada and looking forward to developing my membership along the layers in the institute. Career vision I intend to complete the required Human Resource exams in Canada and to continue my primary career in Human Resources Management. Career Expectations and Personal Objectives with my Career I have learned that the job market and its associated industries are very different and have their own regulated demands, licenses, and specifications one needs to be successful. While I am educating myself to obtain these to become an ideal candidate, I am presently seeking a suitable position in human resources management and administration. I am open to learning new things and willing to be flexible regarding potential employment conditions. I also believe that I am someone who welcomes constructive feedback and is teachable.
