Liam Conkin

Hello! My name is Liam Conkin, a BCIT Digital Design and Development program graduate. I passionately specialize in developing websites and site functionality designed and developed with people's accessibly needs in mind, and creating effective solutions to digital modern day problems.

I have experience in several programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Next.js, React, React Native Mobile, Firebase, Expo, PostgresSQL, Wordpress including Woocommerce, Wix, Squarespace, Node.js, Prisma, Git for version control, UI libraries such as Tailwind CSS, Figma and much more!

I'm particularly interested in making sure each web or mobile application is people-friendly, using 2023 design guidelines, Figma, UX/UI design and other tools to satisfy clients while keeping up to date with the newest industry best practices. 

Many projects can be cited and tested on GitHub or my portfolio, such as TechQuest, a ChatGPT API prompt interview question site that won BCIT's Hack The Break award out of 250 participant.  
 

My professional experiences starts with an internship with Graphically Speaking as apart of my BCIT Practicum. I worked under senior developers using Jira and teams in an Agile environment to fix site issues, create website backend and frontend, and other tasks for websites such as Fatburger, BCPSEA, Lugaro Jewelers and other Vancouver businesses. I primarily worked with Wordpress, Woocommerce, SASS, PHP, and React.

Other notable experience includes 2 years of client work for CrowdfundSuite site creation and maintenance, and using PHP, MySQL, and Microsoft Azure at a WVSD#45 summer position.

At BCIT Digital Design and Development, I developed dozens of viewable GitHub projects that used JavaScript, React, Tailwind, HTML, CSS, several API, Jest Unit Testing and other languages or frameworks. This involved working in several different teams in Agile scrum sprints to develop innovative solutions to problems disadvantage communities or other groups have had with fullstack applications. All the experience above included thorough UX and UI design, user testing, version control with git, and even database work with MySQL and PostgresSQL.
