Manju Manna

A committed and enthusiastic Child and Youth Care (CYC) practitioner, currently completing an internship at Crescent Town Elementary School, supporting children with primary autism within the Intensive Support Program. I bring a diverse range of experience working with children and individuals with developmental and physical disabilities.

My background includes four months as a Child Worker Program staff member at BGC Dovercourt, and a two-month CYC internship in a day program for adults with complex developmental and physical disabilities. I also have two years of experience as an Educator at Adarsh Public School and have worked as an Academic Tutor with Home Guru.

I am looking forward to using my knowledge and expertise to improve the  lives of young people and their families.

Throughout my academic studies and practical field placements, I have developed a solid foundation in key areas essential to effective Child and Youth Care practice. I have developed strong skills in supporting students with diverse needs, including autism, behavioural challenges, and complex developmental and physical disabilities. I have collaborated closely with teachers and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized behavior management plans, support academic and social skill development. Key qualifications that I bring to this role include: 

• Providing individualized support to children and youth facing diverse challenges, including those with autism, behavioral issues, and Complex Developmental and Physically Disabled
• Developing and implementing individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each child 
• Facilitating therapeutic activities and group sessions to enhance social skills, self-esteem, and emotional regulation 
• Applying behavior management strategies, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques 
• Collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams, including educators, social workers, and families, to provide holistic support 
• Maintaining detailed records and documentation of care plans, progress notes, and incident reports 
• Creating safe, supportive, and engaging environments that promote positive development and well-being 

I have completed my diploma in Child and Youth Care program, due to its focus on supporting the emotional, social, behavioral, and developmental needs of children and youth. Being graduated from  this program made me equipped equipped with specialized skills that make them vital contributors in multidisciplinary teams within these settings.
