About Manzar Q.:

Dear Hiring Manager

I am writing to express my strong interest in the position of Associate Professor/Assistant Professor

with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024. The opportunity to join the Department of Geography & Planning at the University of Toronto (St. George Campus) is highly appealing to me due to its rich academic environment and commitment to fostering sustainable, accessible, beautiful, and just city-regions.

With a Ph.D. in Planning and a diverse background in both research and teaching, I am excited about the prospect of contributing to the innovative and dynamic Planning Program at the University of Toronto. My research interests align closely with the preferred areas of focus mentioned in the job description, particularly planning for climate change and urban resilience, as well as urban data science. Over the years, I have built an extensive record of excellence in research and teaching, which I believe would enrich the academic community at the University of Toronto.

In my previous roles, I have demonstrated a commitment to issues of equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice, values that are imperative in the department's courses. I am dedicated to promoting a respectful and collegial learning and working environment, and I am eager to contribute to these important initiatives within the University.

I have attached my curriculum vitae, a research statement outlining my current and future research interests, a leadership statement highlighting my experience and philosophy in academic leadership, a representative publication, and a teaching dossier encompassing a teaching statement, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations. Additionally, I have included a statement of contributions to equity and diversity, which underscores my commitment to these principles.

I am confident that my academic background, research achievements, and dedication to teaching align with the requirements and values of the Department of Geography & Planning at the University of Toronto. I look forward to the possibility of joining your esteemed institution and further discussing how I can contribute to its academic mission.

Thank you for considering my application. If you have any further questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
