About Marcelo Oppermann:
With a unique blend of patient care and scientific research, particularly in spine biomechanics and robotic surgery, I am excited to bring my distinct perspective and contribute to your esteemed institution.
Navigating my educational journey was a challenging odyssey, especially as a member of a humble and uneducated family in Brazil. Nevertheless, I persevered and earned my medical degree from the University of Passo Fundo, laying the groundwork for a medical career. My residency, UNIFESP, is considered one of the top three in Brazil. Pursuing excellence in spine surgery led me to undertake specialized training in Canada. This comprehensive training has equipped me with the resilience and dedication necessary to excel in the demanding realm of spine surgery.
During my four years of fellowship training at esteemed institutions worldwide, including Western University, the University of Alberta, and especially at the University of Calgary, I have not only accumulated extensive experience in spine surgery but also demonstrated my commitment to continuous learning and professional development. My fellowships have equipped me with the skills to tackle complex spinal cases, utilizing advanced techniques such as minimally invasive surgery (MIS), including tubular surgery and lateral, oblique, and anterior cage insertion.
While I hold active practice permits from the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario and Alberta, my residency training in Brazil precludes me from possessing Royal College certification. Nevertheless, I am fully eligible for an Educational License from your esteemed hospital. With my extensive background qualifications and outstanding references, I am confident in my ability to secure your sponsorship for this certification.
Thank you for considering my application.
