Matthew Gelgoot

I am a 23 year old male currently attending Centennial College for pre-service firefighting. 

I recently became a father to a beautiful and healthy little girl. Me and the babys mother are engaged and are planning to marry in the near future. 

I am very committed to better help serve the community and that is why I would like to be involved in the fire-alarm industry. Currently my community involvement is with St. John ambulance volunteering as a medical first responder. This position involves that I attend a number of parades, concerts, and events throughout the year on a volunteer basis to be a primary emergency medial responder to patients until Toronto Ambulance services can arrive. 

I am enthusiastic, a team player, a quick learner, able to follow instructions, and punctual.

A major component of my past work history includes working as a gardener/landscaper for a small company based out of the Lawrence park area in Toronto called Flower Power Landscaping. At this job I learned how follow instructions, work independently, and take on a leadership position. I was responsible for driving/navigation, taking orders from my boss, relaying those orders, ensuring the work got done, and working independently with other crew members at various job sites throughout the day and weeks. Also, I have some past work history in finance as worked as an intern one summer for a wealth management firm calledOutcome Wealth management. Prior to attending Centennial college I was at Toronto Metropolitan University studying Economics and Finance.

Also, I fully understand and appreciate the importance of punctuality. Being on time is extremely important as I respect the time of other employees, bosses, and customers. 

To conclude, I am hard worker, will dedicate 100% of my effort to your company, and hopefully I will get the chance to show you what I am made of.

-Ensured clients’ gardens and lawns where properly manicured and tended to throughout the summer season.

-Responsible for carrying out such duties as mulching, sod installation, weeding, seasonal planting, lawn maintenance, installation and management of water systems and heavy lifting of rocks, large bags of soil and large trees for replanting

-Cultivated strong relationships with customers by listening to their needs and implemented changes they required

-Developed strong team relationships with co-workers and was also able to work independently as the needs of the job dictated.
