Michael Di Benedetto

Michael Benz is a graphic designer, photographer, and event producer with an eye for detail and minimal, dark, and dramatic composition. His image compositions use light to point to singular features for maximum effect; an aesthetic also present in his event experiences. Michael specializes in showcasing his subjects' dramatic side, creating impact with less, rather than more. Utilizing darkness as a medium, Michael’s creations make a statement through contemporary, modern techniques and the use of negative space to highlight the focal point of his pieces, both in portraiture and graphic design.

Graduating from SAIT’s New Media + Design program in 2009 Michael has created a robust freelance career photographing events and spaces from weddings, to museums, to music festivals. Hand selected as an integral part of the media team at conferences and all major western Canadian festivals, Michael has captured some of the most stunning images used by these large-scale events year after year. His work as a portrait artist has been widely sought after and utilized by western Canada’s music community, often finding its way onto album covers and magazine spreads as official press kit imagery.
