Natalia Proa

I am an ecological engineer and currently a graduate student at the University of Calgary where I am working on my MEng in Environmental Engineering. 

During my undergraduate years I specialized in urban ecology, focusing on construction and their environmental impacts, I also engaged in research where I developed methodology and recommendations for waste management, in addition I write a textbook for university students on hydrological basins, I volunteered to participate in a research project on the winter ecology of prairie birds with the University Sul Ross State in Alpine, Texas, this got me interested in the project and research in general, where I developed an undergraduate thesis project to work with several soil samples collected, I analyzed seed abundance and diversity in soil samples collected from prairie bird capture sites in two different grazing systems. I did an academic program on Johns Island, Washington where I learned to develop my teaching skills with children about nature, wildlife and outdoor life, I also learned about the life of indigenous communities.

I have a strong desire to develop and conduct an environmental assessments to find out if previous operations have caused environmental issues that need to be remedied.
