Nicole McWilliams

A bit about me. I completed my B.S. Computer Technologies (Hons) degree from Ulster University Jordanstown, Northern Ireland. In which I received a 2:1 classification with a merit in professional practice. I have over 2.5 years of experience working in the IT industry, most of which is software development.

I have experience in building widely used, client facing web apps. Building applications for Stiona Software which were used by Government services including such services as Jobs Online Portal, and other projects for the Northern Ireland Civil Service. I specialized in Software Development with my strengths being in C#, VueJs, SQL, MongoDB, Postman, Boostrap, HTML, CSS, Angular, Python, Java, Javascript along with many others.

I enjoy all aspects of technology, and don’t try to limit myself to learning any particular tech stack or language. I am a fast learner and can pick up new languages quickly. I aim to put myself in situations where I can grow into the most well rounded developer I can be.

In my most recent role I Solo Developed over 20 reports for different projects using SQL to present reusable and exportable figures for businesses different criteria. Lead the development for projects developing larger parts of new functionality for the existing services to enable the business to move forward and grow. Another aspect of my job involved responding to issues and problems raised by business and able to fix these and respond to the business calmly and well in times of pressure. I was trusted to mentor new team members and demonstrated the various projects and the changes that they would be assisting with. Alongside this I have experience working in an Agile team, following principles such as Sprint planning, IPM, Retrospective and pair programming.

I was granted a 2:1 with merit in professional practice for my degree in Computing Technologies. This 4 year course included a year placement as a software developer for McLInsure Tech Ltd.  As a placement student, I created a main piece of functionality for the company website – Chat bot. Also took part in design meetings and sprint planning to create the functionality to deliver it to the company within a specific timescale.  Experienced working in an Agile team, following principles such as Sprint planning, IPM, Retrospective and pair programming. Here i also worked as part of a small team fixing inhouse issues arising from other departments within the business.
