NITHISH RAGAV NARAYANA SHANKAR

I am an AI/ML Engineer and Researcher with a Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (specialising in Computer Engineering) from the University of Alberta. My passion lies in developing intelligent systems that blend deep learning, data science, and real-world impact. I have hands-on experience building machine learning models for energy forecasting, air pollution analysis, and large language model (LLM) workflows. I’m particularly interested in the intersection of GenAI and domain-specific applications, and have recently explored RAG pipelines and LLMOps tools like LangChain and LlamaIndex.

I’ve published two research papers—one in the Journal of Earth System Science and another in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series—demonstrating my academic contributions to environmental modelling and epidemiological forecasting. My skill set includes Python, SQL, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and cloud tools like Azure and AWS. I’m excited about building impactful, responsible AI systems and constantly learning in this fast-evolving field.

At Ocelli Systems, I led the design and deployment of embedded IoT solutions aimed at smart agriculture. I wired and configured sensor networks, developed real-time data pipelines on microcontrollers, and collaborated closely with agronomists to align technology with field needs. I also implemented fault detection by analysing time-series soil moisture and environmental data, building lightweight predictive models onboard to trigger alerts and irrigation responses. Through rapid prototyping and iterative testing under real conditions, I delivered a deployable system that improved farming efficiency and helped stakeholders make data-backed decisions, balancing hardware constraints with user-centered design in challenging environments.
