About Nour Barsoum:

Hello!

My name is Nour, and I am a third Engineering Science student at the University of Toronto specializing in robotics engineering. I am an enthusiastic, hard working and creative team player and problem solver who is seeking an opportunity to do my professional experience year (PEY) in the field of computer science, robotics, and software engineering.

Experience

Coding Experience:

  • May 2022 - September 2022: I designed and implemented a website for incoming students for the Division of Engineering Science at the University of Toronto using languages such as HTML/CSS. I also wrote posts about student life, campus resources, and first year courses while creating digital art for the website using Adobe software.
  • September 2021 - May 2022: Completed a python coding course (ESC180 - A average) and a data structures and algorithms course (ESC190) that used the C language. During both courses I completed a wide range of coding labs and projects surrounding the topics of encryption, hash tables, loops, time complexity, trees, search and sort algorithms and more.
  • September 2022 - December 2022: Completed a digital circuits course where I learned the fundamentals of Verilog and Risk-V languages. This enabled me to understand computer logic, and learn how to design and construct digital circuits. 
  • May 2023 - Present: I am currently a member of the Robotics for Space Exploration team (RSX) at the University of Toronto. I am the Marketing & Events sub team lead, and through this role I work to promote the team, facilitate outreach and sponsorship events, and manage the team's website and social media accounts on instagram, and LinkedIn. I also work on the mechanical sub team to design and create a rover robot that functions in martian-like conditions. 

Education

I am a third year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto majoring in Robotics Engineering under the Engineering Science stream. I was a winner of the Governor General Award for academic Excellence in 2021.
