It still shocks me to realize I've already come this far in my career.

I've always been an imaginative thinker and problem solver, obsessed with new technologies and the change they can bring. Today, I'm working from home as a software developer for The Co-operators and I get to show off all these elements of myself and explore new parts of myself.

In high school computer science was a class I took for fun, I didn't think it would lead me here. I'm so grateful to past me, because of her I now get to work in a field that fits me. I love that this industry's ever-changing nature allows me to keep growing, and exploring and has no hard limit on what is achievable.

I’m familiar with a variety of programming languages, including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Python, AngularJS, and C but I’m always adding new skills to my repertoire. I’m also eager to meet other software engineers in the area, so feel free to connect!

WORK EXPERIENCE 

Senior System Developer, The Co-operators, Guelph                                                                 January 2021 – Current

• Experienced in developing and implementing enterprise applications using technologies such as SOAP, REST, XML, and JSON
• Developed and maintained application programming interfaces (APIs) to enable communication between systems
• Mentored junior developers and provided guidance on best practices and technical skills, resulting in improved code quality and productivity
• Participated in project planning, providing realistic project timelines, designs, and estimates.
• Provided technical leadership and direction to the development team.
• Collaborate with IT Operations, IT Support, and Business teams to understand their needs and develop solutions that met their requirements

Co-op Student, The Co-operators, Guelph                                                                            January 2019 – August 2020

• Depending on the teams needs worked as a business system analyst (BSA) and as a developer
• As a BSA leveraged my education to work as the leading Automated Test developer on the team. Due to this, I oversaw test runs, creating/updating test scripts, creating/updating documentation on automated test practices, and training new hires.
• As a developer I worked with various other teams in the Co-operators to develop custom ServiceNow REST APIs. Thus, had to liaise with end user’s, work with tight deadlines, and changing requirements.  
• The broad range of responsibilities on this team, strengthened my organizational skills and forced me to be adaptable as work was often re-prioritized. 

Technical Support Analyst, The Co-operators, Guelph                                                            April 2018 – August 2018

• Worked on a second level support team that took tickets that were created by a first level support team, internal tickets, and self-serve tickets created by employees.
• Displayed courtesy and strong interpersonal skills with all customer interactions
• Familiarized myself with the ins and outs of the job within the first month and became the top ticket taker by my third month on the job 
• Juggled up to 20 tickets a day, which improved my time management and multitasking skills.

Student Consultant at CCS Help Centre, University of Guelph, Guelph                                  May 2017 – March 2018

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolved a range of software, hardware, and connectivity issues.
• Exceled in asking probing questions and researching, analyzing, and rectifying problems.
• Displayed exceptional people skills and remained calm during every interaction with a client
