Hey there! My name’s Rendell and I’m a passionate 2D animator and illustrator who likes to breathe life into drawings.

As a kid, I started off as a portrait artist using only pencils, or what ever else I could get my hands on, to draw. I later on pursued Digital Art, and was greatly inspired by the capabilities of what a graphic tablet could create.

​In high school, I tried out Animation. I started out making simple computer animation through Flash and began further challenging myself in the making of an animation film called "The Flying Machine".

I find it both fascinating and invigorating, breathing life into my drawings- with this growing passion of mine, I have been driven to learn more. I decided to pursue 2D Animation at the Vancouver Institute of Media Arts (VanArts) to be trained by experienced professionals and meet wonderful people. In 2023, I graduated from VanArts as a more confident animator.

Vancouver Institute of Media Arts                                                            Oct 2022 - Mar 2023

  • The Stick - A short film in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the course, 2D Animation           
    • Animated 2 minutes and 30 seconds length of full body animation in knowledge and application of animation principles.
    • Composed a storyboard with comical appeal.
    • Developed a story idea and character through concept art and animatics.
    • Collaborated with instructors for feedback on animation, storyboarding, and design.

Freelance Artist         Oct 2017 – Present

  • Illustrator of Everywhere I Look, published children’s book   (completed May 2024)
    • Digitally illustrated the main cover and 19 pages for an entire children’s book project
    • Effectively communicated with client/author for feedback and direction
  • Illustration for Deconstructing Morality, philosophy/non-fiction book, in progress   
    • Digitally illustrated a piece according to author/client’s idea and concept

    • full body graphic portraits, ink illustrations, digital illustrations, and acrylic paintings
