About Renite Manisha:

I use lived experience, arts-based approaches, and mental health training to address social inequality, and improve community connection, and the well-being of marginalised communities between Vancouver and the UK.

Experience

With five years of both professional and academic experience in Vancouver, Canada, and Edinburgh, United Kingdom, I am interested in youth and community development, social justice, and creative approaches to mental health care. I am passionate about decolonial, feminist approaches to addressing issues of social inequality within public and mental health policies and practices. My research interests are regarding addiction, language and stigma, refugee and asylum seeker's rights, and femicide and gender-based violence, and the effects of the climate crisis on the aforementioned issues.

Education

I hold a Master of Science, with distinction, the highest honours degree, in Global Mental Health and Society from the University of Edinburgh, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with high distinction, with a minor in Law and Society from the University of British Columbia.
