Rohme Cabacungan

Hi! My name is Rohme Cabacungan. I am currently a 4th year (heading into 5th year) Information Technology student at York University.

Through taking courses related to my major in university, I was inspired to delve deeper into IT - specifically cybersecurity and networking. To learn more about this area of IT, I registered in online courses (i.e., LinkedIn Learning, TryHackMe) and prepared for certifications about cybersecurity (i.e., ISC2, Google). Hopefully by solidifying the fundamental knowledge in cybersecurity, I can start a career in cybersecurity.

Outside of school, I also worked on personal projects such as a “Nextcloud Home Server”. I wanted to create a server for my family to centralize data management and have more control of our data. Noticing that my fellow students at York University had difficulty searching for student resources, I learned to create a website using basic web development tools (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) which compiles all resources that other students frequently access. I hope to work on more side projects in the future, especially if they are related to cybersecurity.

• Utilized Microsoft Excel for inventory management to track incoming orders, computer equipment across the campus, and items transferred to storage or disposal.
• Facilitated deployment of computer equipment to assist onboarding new faculty and staff in procuring the necessary devices needed to fulfill their tasks and responsibilities.
• Provided comprehensive IT support to York University employees, professors, and students campus-wide.
• Leveraged ticketing system and two-factor authentication admin panel to efficiently resolve technology-related issues.
• Created troubleshooting guides and protocols for end users, enabling them to resolve common issues (e.g., display, internet) independently.
• Installed computer equipment to ensure ease of accessibility for York University staff and students.
