Sam Wynans

I am a 2nd year student at Vancouver Island University, completing a Bachelors degree of Tourism and Recreation Management, and seeking Co-op Term employment for the summer. Outdoor Recreation is my passion and I have been able to indulge in a variety of jobs so far in my career such as a Mountain Bike Instructor, Program Coordinator, and Summer Camp Coordinator. Over the past 5 years I have been able to gain valuable experience with the City of Port Alberni in the Parks and Recreation department that allow me to pursue new endeavors. 

Over the past 5 years I have worked with the City of Port Alberni to implement new programs and practices into the Parks and Recreation department as an instructor, employee, and supervisor. I have worked as a summer camp leader, mountain bike instructor, program coordinator, summer coordinator, and concession assistant. Wearing different hats provides an in depth understanding of how each part of the municipality operates and makes for a competent employee and supervisor.

I am currently enrolled in my 2nd year of the Recreation and Sport Management program at Vancouver Island University to complete a Bachelors of Tourism Management. I hold a high academic standard for myself keeping above a 3.4 GPA at all times. I graduated from Alberni District Secondary school in 2021, and completed 1 semester of engineering at University of Victoria in 2022.
