Sarthak Chand is a Mumbai-based documentary photographer, filmmaker, and founder of The Gonzo Studio, a production and publishing studio focused on long-form documentary stories.
With over a decade of professional practice, Chand works across photography, directing, cinematography and editorial publishing—specialising in long-form photo essays, observational documentary film, and visual storytelling that foregrounds built environments and cultural memory.
He has led commissioned and self-initiated projects exploring migration, identity, gender, and cultural histories, and produces work for exhibitions, editorial outlets and independent book/publishing projects through Gonzo Publishing. His portfolio and studio practice combine research, location-based documentary methods, DOP work, and photobook/print production.
Chand also engages in public programming and community projects—presenting talks and heritage walks, contributing to collaborative documentary initiatives, and curating printed projects and limited-edition prints for collectors and institutions. He maintains an active portfolio and social presence for ongoing commissions and collaborations.

Education
After dropping out of Architecture school Sarthak Chand carried his knowledge of studying conversation and graduated with a Bachelors of Indian History. He then pursued a Diploma in Photojournalism to work on storytelling and assisted his mentors on field assignments, before starting out as a freelance photographer.
