Dear Hiring Manager,

As a Professional Geologist with more than 10 years of experience working in the Oil and Gas Industry, with extended experience in business and finance and the proper understanding of the economics behind the industry, I apply with great interest for this career opportunity.

I am currently working as a Geological Consultant under Windy Point Affiliates, with the plan to design innovative solutions for drilling programs using geological information available, personal research, as well as conventional tools of regional mapping and log and core analysis.

For more than 10 years, I have studied, explored and mapped the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, using as many geological and engineering concepts as I possibly could. I have well-rounded working experience in sedimentology, structural geology, reservoir geology, petrophysics and geophysics. I understand conventional and unconventional plays very well with working knowledge in all areas of the upstream value chain. I have used all the common industry software including geoSCOUT, Accumap, Petra, and Microsoft Office etc.

I have worked for small, intermediate, and large-sized corporations as an Exploration Geologist and a Business Development Geologist. I very much enjoy working directly with all types of professionals, especially in the business development sector of the Oil and Gas Industry and one of my first major roles as a Development Geologist was with PennWest Exploration in the Acquisitions and Divestitures Department. Our team of engineers and geoscientists worked along side the Finance and Legal Teams to present potential upside investment or asset sale to the Executive Board. I evaluated risk of asset acquisitions and divestitures by employing risk formulas, metric filters, step by step elimination processes and finally using geological mapping and conducting thorough geological analyses. I also worked closely with our Development and Finance Teams on asset mergers, so I am fully versed in writing and delivering sales packages with asset metrics like net present value, ROI, rate of return, recycle ratio, cash flow, debt, PNP, PP, PD assets, etc. I also constantly monitored and evaluated different energy sector markets for potential upside and I would be thrilled to do so again.

I have always had a deep-routed passion to work with a team of geological consultants or advisors providing technical expertise to support and help grow a global energy franchise. I would genuinely be interested in expanding my working knowledge of finance, economics and capital markets in the Global Energy ecosystem. With my excellent interpersonal and communication skills and my long history of experience in the geosciences blended with a business background, I am a ideal fit for this opportunity.
