Surzayon Ghosh

Surzayon Ghosh is an award-winning fashion & portrait photographer. He is an alumnus of the Academy of Art University, graduating in fall'19. Since his graduation, he has assisted on several commercial photoshoots in and around San Francisco (pre - COVID).

He was born at the laps of the Himalayas in a small town in West Bengal, India. However, he spent his entire life in the oasis of the Middle East – Dubai. Surzayon grew up in a mixed atmosphere where religions and cultures meshed perfectly.

His work focuses on capturing a moment in time, whether portraiture or fashion. He is always looking at a way to convey a visual narrative.

He is constantly experimenting with new techniques. A camera is a tool for him through which he evokes his vision/story.

He left his business degree to pursue photography. He captures photos to tell a story instead of just creating a photo. Most of his work is related to capturing emotions through people.

He is constantly looking for ways to capture movement through his photography.

For him, work is only produced as a culmination of solid teamwork.

He is currently based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

● Overseeing the work of Snack Bar and Student Lounge Attendants

● Working with the Director of Student Services on personnel related policies and decisions

● Preparing work schedules

● Conducting staff meetings and taking meeting minutes

● Preparing monthly sales reports for the Director of Student Services

● Taking a weekly inventory

● Ordering necessary inventory to facilitate the operation of the Snack Bar and Student Lounge

● Keeping storage rooms organized

● Maintaining point-of-sale system updated

● Updating and maintaining the Snack Bar menu

● Prepare equipment and set:

○ Unload and set up the cameras, tripods, lights, and other equipment for the photographer to use

before the session.

○ Used Capture One pro to test light and add templates as needed by a client.

○ Prepare the set according to the client’s requests and the photographer's needs, including placing

props, determining where client should sit or stand, and adjusting light sources.

● Assist during photo shoots:

○ Follow the photographer's instructions and offer advice.

○ Work on tethering via Capture One Pro during the photoshoot to show the client and make sure

along with the photograph that the composition and focus are in check.

○ Directing clients to move, adding or removing props from the set, or changing settings on the

camera as required .

○ Also take some shots.

● Edit Photos:

○ Using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to correct blemishes in photos, including cropping photos

and adjusting contrast as needed.

○ Removing unwanted objects in the scene, applying digital filters, making color enhancements,

and improving image sharpness

● Distribute Photos:

○ Distributing edited photos to the client through an online photo gallery service or in print.

○ Upload photos to the client’s website

○ Mail the client / deliver the photoshoot

○ Archive images in Capture One Pro and backup a catalogue Lightroom CC for record.
