Tanvi Varshney

With a degree in Architecture and Urbanism (Urban Design) and experience in architecture, urban design and community engagement, I am confident in my ability to assist in the preparation of urban design studies, reports, and master plans. 

Currently I am based out of Sydney, Australia, and have recently received my Canadian Permanent Residency. I will be permanently moving to Toronto in May 2023. I am presently working as an urban designer, place-maker and community engagement consultant at Reactivate Consulting. As an urban design consultant, I have developed conceptual urban design documents and provided design solutions for various urban design and planning projects. I conduct site analysis and prepare information and drawings for reports and analyses. I provide design recommendations for place activation, and implement place visioning and place-making strategies for clients. I manage stakeholder engagement for activations and community-building efforts, and collaborate with project teams to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery. My expertise in urban design, place-making, and community engagement consultancy services has played a key role in place activation initiatives and community engagement efforts. 

My proficiency in software programs such as AutoCAD, Sketchup, and Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) will enable me to effectively communicate planning advice to urban design studies. I have excellent analytical, research, and interpretive skills that I have honed while working independently in identifying and interpreting research findings and reaching practical conclusions. 

In my current and previous roles as an Urban Designer, I assisted in the preparation and submission of development applications, collaborated with clients, consultants, government agencies, and other experts, and carried out site visits, site and gap analysis and reports. I am confident that my experience and passion for urban design will enable me to provide exceptional service to clients in a timely and efficient manner. 

I am eager to discover and master new tools and visualization techniques while working in a creative and fast-paced environment. I am excited about the opportunity to be involved in a range of challenging and professionally rewarding projects primarily across the Greater Toronto Area. 
 

I have worked as an Architect, in housing, commercial, educational and institutional sectors. I have been working as an Urban designer for the last 2 years, and as a place-maker and community engagement specialist for the lsat 1 year. 

Masters in Urbanism with a major in Urban design from the University of Sydney. I also studied relevant heritage conservation and planning subjects during my post graduation, which greatly helped in understanding the urban design concepts and how the two disciplines go hand in hand.
