About Tavish Mehta:
Ambitious and devoted high school student with strong academic standing and meaningful volunteer and extracurricular experiences. Through consistent community involvement, public‑speaking based activities, and leadership roles, I have developed qualities essential for future professional environments—including empathy, integrity, problem‑solving, negotiation, teamwork, and adaptability. I aim to gain work experience to support the pursuit of a high school law internship program in the United States and to continue building the skills required for future academic and career endeavours.
Experience
Weekly Volunteer Volunteering at the animal shelter has strengthened my sense of responsibility, empathy, and composure. Working closely with animals and people in unpredictable or stressful situations has taught me the importance of patience and understanding unspoken cues—skills that directly support effective communication and client interaction.
The role requires consistent coordination with staff and volunteers, reinforcing teamwork and reliability. This experience has deepened my commitment to service and advocacy, qualities that align closely with the values of the legal profession.Junior Volunteer | June 2025 — Present (53.75+ hours) As a junior volunteer, I assist with client intake and triage, administer client evaluations, manage conflict checks, and observe legal advice sessions. Through this involvement, I have gained insight into practical legal processes and the importance of improving access to justice for Albertans.
The role requires professionalism, discretion, strong communication, and the ability to stay calm in fast‑paced environments. I continue to volunteer weekly and remain dedicated to PBLA’s mission of supporting the legal community in providing meaningful pro bono services.
