About Thalia Flores-Slegers, MBA,BI Analyst:
Greetings,
I am thrilled to apply for this position at your esteemed organization. In 2014, I was selected as one of the few recent University graduates from abroad by the Canadian Government to live in Canada and gain work experience in the Young Professionals category for high-achieving talent based on leadership potential and academic success.
After earning my MBA in Global Business from Laval University in Quebec City and gaining some enriching work experience in both the Private and Public sectors, I decided I needed to update myself to continue my personal growth and development. I took some time off to earn the Data Analytics Professional Certificate, an extensive six-month job-ready Google Career Certificate Training Program that provides a wide variety of tools and techniques to support reliable and accurate decision-making; to make sense of ever-increasing amounts of data in a fast and economical way. Data-driven decision-making helps organizations stay relevant and competitive.
Now that I have completed the program and broadened my perspective and skill set -- I am eager to resume my professional career. I speak English, intermediate French, and Spanish is my mother tongue. Born in Mexico, I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Economics and Administration Sciences, GPA: 3.7/4.00—with a one-year Interchange Institutional Program in Europe, winning the Innovation Award in Packaging at an Entrepreneurial Fair. Remarkable as a genuine team player, I rated high in AQ–Adaptability Quotient. My peers consider me friendly and professional with good public relations skills.
Amongst others, I took courses in Operations Management—conducted projects and final exams on Lean Six Sigma & ERP. I worked for JNJ with Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne software. I have experience in Accounts Payable/Receivable. I increased profit by $20,000 USD in my first two months for a tech company when I was new to the sales environment. I prepared analytical reports based on result metrics. I've also worked as an Auditor for two hotels in Quebec City—verified transaction records, balanced accounts, closed safe deposits, updated accounts receivable from non-resident customers, billed reports, sent them to the relevant departments, and solved difficulties in the absence of superiors.
I’d appreciate the opportunity to discuss the position and the role needs.
Please contact me at your convenience and let me know how I can help you.
Respectfully Submitted,
Thalia Flores-Slegers, MBA, BI Analyst
* My most recent work experience prior to gaining the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate is at PwC Canada as an Administrative Assistant in Internal Firm Services. I started as a Contractor with PROCOM in October 2020 and eventually got hired by PwC as a permanent employee in Operations-Administration, as per the job description. Having to finalize my Permanent Residency application & to pursue the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate that I have now both recently achieved, I had to move forward from that role.
When I worked in Accounts Payable, we frequently had issues with a Provider for having many bills past due. His team was in charge of customizing our product. His claim was that they didn’t get our product on time, so they didn’t pay on time. I rallied my co-workers together to get to the bottom of it but since no one was initiating it, I decided to take it on as a side project. During a meeting with the Provider and my team, I presented my key findings -- line by line -- proving the dates we got the confirmation of our product being received by them. It turns out, his team wasn’t opening the boxes and entering the information in their system, so Management had no clue about the product being received. They apologized, paid their overdue bills right away and that worked a lot better.
I love working with people and collaborating just like I did for the Accounts Payable project and as a Reception Ambassador for prestigious hotels in different countries. I'm also really good at working independently and getting things done. During my MBA, I made a project for a prestigious jewellery company, for Graduation. The curriculum is called “Competing in a Global Arena –an Integrative Project.”
My ability to sift through a lot of information and distill it down to what's important and easily understandable combined with my experience working in hospitality made me really good at communication and managing front desk and difficult guests both made me really good at people managing too. I think these skills will translate really well to this position.
I have also engaged as a Volunteer in the World Social Forum; Montreal, QC, Canada–2016. I obtained the following recognition: "Demonstrate a sense of initiative, generosity, flexibility, and a team spirit that eases team adaptation."
Cedars Cancer Foundation; Montreal, QC, Canada–2016. Participating as a paddler in the CanSupport / Faire Face dragon boat festival and fundraising.
Collaborated with Karine Nolin –Coordinator and Operations, in support of children with disabilities and their families during the "Color Me Rad" event, Quebec City, 2017.
From 2005 to 2015 - assisted the elderly in a nursing home in Mexico, as a Volunteer. Conducted different projects to raise funds from Sponsors and Benefactors.
