Services offered
Hi, I’m Theresa N. Kenney (she/her/siya), a Filipinx agender femme scholar and consultant with over a decade of experience in equity-driven research, writing, and curriculum development. I specialize in equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI); critical research support; academic and creative editing; and grant application development. My work is grounded in anti-racist, feminist, queer, and disability justice frameworks, and I bring a deep understanding of how race, gender, sexuality, and disability shape lived experience and knowledge production.
I hold a PhD in English and a Graduate Diploma in Gender and Social Justice from McMaster University, along with an MA in Cultural Studies and a BA (Honours) in English and Political Science. My academic and professional background spans grant writing, EDI training and consultation, and writing support for both institutional and community-based projects.
Whether you’re looking for someone to develop accessible and anti-oppressive content, craft a compelling research proposal, or edit your writing with precision and care, I’d love to collaborate with you to bring your vision to life.
Experience
I bring over ten years of experience working across research, education, and community engagement, with a focus on equity, justice, and access. My professional background includes designing and teaching university-level courses in gender, sexuality, and cultural studies; consulting on equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives; and leading collaborative, community-based research projects. I’ve supported organizations, educators, and artists in crafting accessible, anti-oppressive materials—from grant applications and public communications to workshops, reports, and curricula.
As a writer and editor, I’ve worked on everything from academic publications and zines to digital storytelling and arts-based research outputs. I specialize in topics related to race, gender, sexuality, disability, and diaspora, and I approach each project with a commitment to relationality, clarity, and care.
Education
I hold a PhD in English and a Graduate Diploma in Gender and Social Justice from McMaster University, where my research explored asexuality, queer Asian North American cultural production, and platonic relationality. I also earned an MA in Cultural Studies and Critical Theory, as well as BA Honours degrees in English and Political Science from the University of Calgary. My academic training is deeply interdisciplinary, bridging literary and cultural analysis with feminist, queer, anti-racist, and disability justice frameworks.
