Xiaofeng Wang

A detail-oriented reliable individual with extensive working knowledge and experience in public health inspection. 

I completed a practicum training in Environmental Public Health, Edmonton Zone, Alberta Health Services, where I gained field experience on professionalism, communications, and the full spectrum of program areas under Environmental Public Health. Following the successful completion of my practicum in 2021, I joined the Central Zone Environmental Public Health Team as a district PHI covering Clearwater County. Currently, I am working as a Public Health Inspector I in Bonnyville, North Zone, providing sole coverage for the Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87.

Through the field work as a Public Health Inspector, I have strengthened my comprehension in public health inspection and progressive enforcement, advanced communication skills, improved report writing technique, and developed personalized approach for inspections. I had the experience of working as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow focusing on chronic disease prevention and management at the University of Alberta for 5 years, where I developed extensive experience and exceptional skills in data entry/collection, statistical analysis, and writing of plans, reports, and manuscripts. I also completed a practicum training during the SARS outbreak in 2003 in a Disease Control and Prevention Centre in China, where I participated in the work of case tracking, contact tracing, quarantine, surveillance, health education, and outbreak management.

I would be delighted to apply my knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm in public health and contribute to the development and implementation of Environmental Public Health programs. 

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health with high distinction obtained from Concordia University of Edmonton. I also hold a Doctorate degree (PhD) in Biomedical Sciences completed in the University of Prince Edward Island and a Bachelor's degree in Preventive Medicine and a Master's degree in Nutrition and Food Hygiene, both obtained at Tianjin Medical University, China.
