I am a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) consultant and recent graduate of the MSc program in the Geography, Urban and Environmental Studies department at Concordia University, with a specialization in GIS and Remote Sensing.  I am seeking an entry level GIS position for an employer seeking a hardworking and resourceful worker, with the goal of applying my existing knowledge and sharpening my skills. 

Jan – May 2023              GIS Consultant  

CM Engineering Suriname / Aquatech Engineering                        Limited Trinidad and Tobago

• Conducted a GIS analysis for the client Staatsolie Suriname, Suriname’s state-owned oil company. 
• Created a least-cost model to determine the optimal/ lowest cost route for the location of a proposed pipeline connecting the Staatsolie Refinery in Paramaribo to a landing point near an offshore site.  
• Developed various routing criteria for the model such as the land use type, distance to roads, buildings, protected areas, water bodies etc. 
• Proposed four different scenarios for the location of the pipeline route, with each scenario including different weighing of the routing criteria.

Jan – April 2022               GIS Teaching/Lab Assistant

• Assisted Dr. Angela Kross at Concordia University for the course GEOG 465 – Remote Sensing. 
• Graded three assignments and nine labs and provided support in the GIS lab for the programs Terrset, Arcmap and Google Earth twice a week, for a total of 149 working hours for the semester.

• Conducted a change detection report to assess the developments and changes occurring in urban growth, roads, deforestation and quarries in Maracas Valley, Trinidad between 2009 and 2020.

• Conducted a spatial analysis study to determine the optimal locations for the placement of water and sanitation facilities in low-income areas in Kisumu, Kenya.

• Conducted an extensive literature review to attain information on the use of geospatial technologies for damage assessment. 
• Compiled this information into modules and used by the lecturer to develop a course on damage assessment for the Caribbean Islands.
