About Zachary Lau:

Hello I am Zach, a recently graduated student with a passion for using mathematical techniques to find solutions to real world problems. My background is mostly in embedded and systems programming, although I am also interested in learning more about signal processing and machine learning. Outside of the classroom/workplace I enjoy participating in student competitions such as competitive programming and learning other (human) languages!

Experience

As an Compiler Developer Intern I worked extensively on testing for the LLVM based OpenXL C/C++ compiler on z/OS and Linux on Z. This experience exposed me to operating systems, low level system programming and the software development process.

As a summer researcher I have worked with Python and OpenCV to test the ORBSLAM2 algorithm for simultaneous localization and mapping on hardware newly acquired by the lab.

Education

In 2023 I finished my Bachelor's at the University of Calgary with a combined degree in Electrical Engineering (computer minor) and Mathematics.
