Zhan Tagbergenov

I graduated from Trent University on May 9, 2023, with a focus on furthering my professional development and acquiring expertise in my chosen field. With a cumulative of one year of experience in the finance industry, I have developed a strong motivation to excel and continually enhance my skills. My ultimate career aspiration is to become a Corporate Advisor. In terms of technical skills, I possess proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced features such as Pivot Tables, nested IF statements, and VLOOKUPs. Furthermore, I am well-versed in utilizing PowerPoint for effective presentations. I am also experienced in working with accounting software, specifically 1C. I have also actively engaged in various personal interests. I have achieved notable accomplishments in urban swimming tournaments, earning two golden medals and one silver medal. Additionally, I have attained a black belt in Aikido and I am currently practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

During summer 2022, I worked as an intern at Kazakh Stock Exchange. My main duty was to interact with representatives of various companies that trade on Kazakh Stock Exchange to analyze various parameters that are required for companies to keep their stocks trading on Kazakh Stock Exchange. Utilizing Excel's 'Power Query' tool, I managed and organized extensive datasets for further analysis, ensuring compliance with financial, operational, and investing requirements. Also, I have created finance model for Freedom Finance and Freedom Investing, analyzed the performance of these firms for the last three years to make future assumptions about whether it is profitable to invest in these companies considering various financial ratios.

In the summer 2022, I worked as an intern at BDO Kazakhstan. I participated in two different projects with auditing team; one is related to construction industry; second one is related to oil distribution industry. My mission was to help other senior audit members to prepare various auditing papers. I had an experience at worked on papers such as: AAA, PF, SI, Budget Time, Random Sampling method, Contract Analysis, OCB in Excel and 1C

In the summer 2021, I worked as an intern at Kazakhstanaudit LLP Financial Audit department. At the job, I was engaged in the financial audit of several companies and analyzed the financial activity of these companies for 5 years to identify suspicious financial fraud on the part of employees. Also, I created and tested a financial model in excel for big pharmaceutical company.  Through this experience, I have gained valuable skills such as financial modeling, attention to detail, working under pressure and analyze huge amounts of data. 

During the summer of 2020, I gained practical experience at the Agency of Intellectual Property "Tagbergenova & Partners" by assisting the chief accountant. This role provided me with valuable skills in making accounting entries using Excel and 1C. 

At Trent University I  took part in the university club called 'TURSA'  as a Finance officer. I held this position for a year. My responsibility was to participate in charity events to collect humanitarian aid and money to help the population of Ukraine. Use Excel sheets to organize clubs' revenues and expenses. Collect and manage all information about financial and operational activity of the club. Actively communicate with other clubs and their departments at the administrative level. Show leadership skills by helping club to improve sales and revenue. 

I graduated from Trent University on the 9th of May 2023. My major is a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a specialization in Finance.
