Senior Project Manager - Construction

  • Perform cost control for the project including actuals analysis, forecasting, contingency draw down, cashflow curves, FTE utilization, and cost variance and explanation
  • Develop tools, templates, and forms to support, measure and audit project processes
  • Critically analyze risk analysis, report on projects, and quantify the impacts of scheduling delays to the baseline estimate
  • Communicate projects cost performance as well as calculate burn rate based on resource and labor rates to support PM with forecasting
  • Report on the progress of each project, staffing needs, schedule changes, and status of milestones
  • Assist project Controls manager in updating monthly reports. Reports include cost, schedule, scope, and risk performance
  • Facilitates simple and effective document management and retrieval on SharePoint and on file
  • Maintain decision records and prepare and distribute records of recommendations
  • Document lessons learned at a frequency appropriate for the program size and complexity
  • Prepares graphs, diagrams, and other exhibits to illustrate cost status and forecast requirements
  • Performs analytical review and arithmetic checks of cost reporting documentation
  • Understand the project work scope, needs and deliverables
  • Working to align project work scope with company structures and control accounts
  • Proficient in planning, estimating, budgeting, and controlling costs so that a project can be completed within the approved budget
  • Can work with project team to provide monthly cost reports, manage project change notices, and manage the purchasing process
  • Analyze contractors' performance using Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
  • Capable of generating and reporting cash flow forecast and workinplace (WIP) projections
  • Proficient in using SAP software. Capable of obtaining information independently and analyzing data to identify trends or concerns
  • Expected to understand corporate financial requirements and procedures
  • Attention to detail is an essential job skill
  • Cost estimating skills including change order analysis and benchmarking of project costs
  • Knowledge and proficiency in PowerBI, MS Excel, MS Word processing, PowerPoint

Job Requirements:


  • An Engineering, Construction Management, Business or Accounting Degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 69 years of experience in the engineering / construction field, or an associate degree from a technical field with a minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of related Project Management experience in a Lab setting is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills are essential to interface with peers, management, vendors, and contractors. This position requires knowledge of estimating techniques, project planning, engineering, and construction processes as well as knowledge of computer systems including scheduling programs, spreadsheets, Graphs, word processing, flow charts and presentation skills.
  • Must have technical knowledge of construction cost estimating and management. This will include experience in the review of design documents, MTOs, constructability, building components, labor rate analysis and material unit pricing. Must have strong analytical skills for cost estimate analysis, bid evaluation, change order analysis, value analysis, and benchmarking project costs.
  • A proven history of experience in design and construction project management, cost management, estimating, planning, scheduling and progress measurement is essential.
  • Experience in a pharma/biotech/Life Science industry a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
Project Controller is expected to have an overall foundation in scheduling, cost, finance and management, with demonstrated experience in managing medium-to-large projects
