Reporting to the Manager, Operations Engineering, this individual will be responsible for developing equipment specifications, supporting project implementation, performing root cause analysis of equipment and process failures, and promoting enhancements to maintenance programs to ensure high reliability and availability.

The primary objective of the role will be to minimize equipment life-cycle costs across multiple facilities and to improve Air Canada Cargo's operational capacity and efficiency.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement comprehensive equipment management strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Facilitate the specification, procurement, acceptance, installation, and commissioning of new equipment and machinery, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor the usage and performance of equipment, identifying opportunities for process improvement and operational cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and vendors to evaluate the benefits of new equipment and upgrades, making recommendations based on operational requirements and budget considerations
  • Develop and manage a preventive maintenance program for equipment and machinery, ensuring adherence to scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure timely inspections, servicing, and repairs.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the preventive maintenance program and implement enhancements as needed to optimize equipment performance and extend operational life.
  • Oversee the timely diagnosis and resolution of equipment malfunctions and breakdowns to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Coordinate repair activities with external vendors and technicians, ensuring timely and costeffective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment repairs, maintenance activities, and spare parts inventory.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to safe operating practices.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of equipment, identifying and addressing potential hazards or deficiencies.
  • Review adherence to building and maintenance standard operating policies and procedures
  • Provide effective leadership and guidance to the maintenance team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Identify training needs to enhance the technical skills of the maintenance team.
  • Motivate through a "Win As One Air Canada" attitude within a highperformance team environment

Qualifications

  • Accredited degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, Electrical Engineering).
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in equipment and maintenance management, preferably in a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems used in automated cargo handling equipment.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance, repair procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work within a team, manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
  • Strong problemsolving, analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Computer proficiency including computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), Microsoft Office, CAD and simulation software.
  • Periodic travel and flexible hours may be required.
