Job Summary:


The Mechanical Drafting Technician is responsible for assisting in the design layout and production drawings for mechanical systems and equipment.

This role will include coordination with other internal departments.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Perform all drafting activities as required by the Engineering and Shop personnel.
  • Designing equipment and specifications for major components, equipment and processes.
  • Providing assistance in the research and development of new products.
  • Preparing detailed schematic drawings and process flow drawings as required.
  • Provide strong internal communication among departments to ensure equipment standardization, project coordination and product information.
  • When required participate in technical / sale meetings to ensure the feasibility of the project considering the overall design of the equipment.
  • Provide estimates to Engineering Manager on completion of drawings and inform them of any concerns of project deadline concerns.
  • Measure and sketch components working within the Quality Assurance to establish guidelines for manufacturing and implementing Quality Control.
  • Monitoring fabrication of equipment to ensure design intent is met and offer feedback on improving designs.
  • Provide complete job summary reports to record possible improvements for the next job.
  • Working efficiently, safely and follow NOV Safety policies.
  • Maintains all company information as confidential.
  • All other assigned or associated tasks and duties to help meet or exceed the customer expectations and company goals.

Education and Training:


  • Completion of a twoyear design and drafting course or equivalent.
  • Experience in the design and operation of oilfield service equipment is an asset.
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD software is required.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure, multitask and work efficiently against deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a selfdirected environment and as part of an overall team.
