Job Summary
The Manager of Training and Mentorship is part of the Leadership team and works collaboratively with the Leadership team to envision, strategize and action a training and mentorship program with the goal of fulfilling the organizational values of continuous learning and growth for staff, and service excellence for survivors.
Salal recognizes the value and importance in on-going learning and growth to foster staff retention, engagement, wellness and organizational success.

Organizational Status
Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre is a feminist, anti-oppressive, decolonizing not-for-profit organisation who changes society through advocacy, outreach and education.
Operating on unceded Coast Salish Territories, Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre advocates for and provides counselling and victim services support to survivors of all marginalized genders who have experienced violence in intimate relationships, sexual assault, and/or childhood sexual abuse.

Work Performed
Training and Mentorship
- Conducts environmental scan(s) of current training and mentorship practices at the organization
- Communicates with staff, board and volunteers about the Training and Mentorship plan and how it fits into the larger organizational values, and strategic plan
- Develops and enhances policies, procedures and practices to support staff development, training, and learning
- Supports with planning all inhouse training for staff
- Supports with planning staff connection events
- Seeks and conducts ongoing feedback and evaluation of training programming at Salal
- Leads learning management platform strategy
- Oversees the organization's Learning Management System, including maintenance of current modules, supports with the development of new modules and onboarding staff and volunteers through the system.
- Reviews Manager directed and staff directed professional and personal goals and works with team Managers on staff members progress and success
- Researches when required external training programs to match professional development needs for staff in accordance with performance management goals
- Ensures that the training and mentorship plan supports the enactment of Salal's values and culture
- Supports with crossprogram learning and mentorship including internal committees
Human Resources
- Is responsible for full spectrum HR functions (hiring, performance management, support, coaching, discipline, termination, and others) as required
- Maintains a working knowledge of the Collective Agreement and of all relevant agency policies, procedures, and standards
- Ensures personnel practices are uptodate and inline with the Collective Agreement and other relevant policies and procedures
- Is responsible to conduct investigations and make decisions regarding disciplinary action as needed
Strategy & Governance
- Works directly with the Executive Director to vision and strategize a sustainable training program for Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre
- Provides insight and research on promising practices for organizational based training programs
- Presents to the board of directors as required
- Works in collaboration with the Manager of Operations to integrate HR data into the training program design
- Vision, design and develop a mentorship program for the organization
