THE RESPONSIBILITIES

Including but not limited to the following:

  • Oversee coordination of the shipping, operations, and transportation teams
  • Provide clear direction to operations staff to assist in a high level of effectiveness in operations
  • Assisting the Operations Manager with operations management duties
  • Support operations in customer service, order entry, reporting, etc. as needed
  • Measure and report effectiveness of warehouse, shipping, operations, and transportation teams
  • Measure and support maintenance programs and servicing
  • Provide coaching to all operations teams
  • Enforce the company's safety program
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet warehouse demands as dictated by delivery schedules and workflow
  • Review reports and attend all operations conference calls
  • Encourage and enforce activity scanning
  • Accident investigations and safety inspections
  • Assisting with performing deliveries and order building of all materials
  • Train delivery teams and yard staff on roles and responsibilities
  • Ensure proper operation of the Transfer system
  • Ensure Shipping process is functioning properly
  • Planning for space requirements and position of shipment on trucks
  • Routing and legal load limits of trucks
  • Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications
  • Facilitate certified vehicle inspections and crane inspections as needed
  • Organize equipment/vehicle repairs
  • Communicate with sales team and customers
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance reports
  • Compile records of unfilled orders and errors
  • Ensure the shipping office and workspace is always clean and organized
  • Other duties as assigned by management

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum two years of experience is an asset
  • Ability to work OT hours regularly and as needed
  • Broad knowledge of building supplies and home improvement products
  • Must have prior delivery experience
  • Competent with Microsoft Excel and Navision
  • Valid forklift certification is an asset
  • Effective communication skills and ability to read and speak English
  • Ability to problem solve, prioritize, and manage multiple assignments
  • Physical requirements include:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100lbs
  • Pulling, pushing, bending and torso twisting movements with weight

THE LOCATION - Cumberland


Cumberland is located in the Comox Valley on the east coast of Vancouver Island, approximately 2.5 hours from Victoria and 1.5 hours from Nanaimo.
