Summary of Duties**- Code and process documentation for all employee transactions (i.e. new hires, transfers, benefit changes, leave of absences and terminations) in the HRIS and various insurance company systems

  • Conduct employee appointments (inperson and virtually) to review benefit entitlements and changes during employee lifecycle; including outlining and completing required documentation to start, adjust and terminate benefit coverage
  • Assess Employee Change Forms (ECFs) to ensure accurate information in accordance with collective agreements, legislation, and Sunnybrook policies prior to meeting with employees and processing changes in the HRIS
  • Respond to employee queries regarding benefits
  • HOOPP, health benefit coverage and claims process, RRSP program, LTD and Life Insurance coverage, vacation, sick and float day entitlement
  • Connect with Payroll Services to initiate retro payments for salary and benefits deductions, and request the Record of Employment (ROE) for staff going on leave of absences
  • Oversee induction process for new staff in regards to payroll documentation
  • Conduct biweekly payroll audit to ensure employees are paid in accordance with their vacation, sick and float banks, Sunnybrook policies, legislation and collective agreements
  • Other duties/projects as assigned

Qualifications/Skills

  • Post-Secondary education in business or social sciences required
  • Successful completion of an accredited HR program and/or recent related work experience in an Human Resources department required
  • Ability to interpret, effectively communicate and problem solve within parameters of applicable legislation, collective agreements, Sunnybrook policies and insurance contracts
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to fluctuating workload, recognize exceptions, errors, and attend to details
  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to respond to complex enquiries in a sensitive and professional manner
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills and a customer service focus
